What "Trained on Your Website" Actually Means
A chatbot that answers from your website does not memorise your site once and forget it. It keeps a searchable knowledge base of your content. When a visitor asks a question, the bot finds the passages that match, and a large language model writes a short, natural reply from those passages only.
That is why the same bot can answer "What are your Sunday timings?", "Kitna charge hai home visit ka?" and "Do you have this in size 10?" correctly: the answers come from your own pages, not from what is typical on the internet. If you want to understand the knowledge base side in more depth, read our guide to an AI knowledge base.
Because answers are grounded in your content, the bot is only as good as what you give it. The rest of this page covers what to add, how to write it and how to test it.

How It Works
In the Bitsa AI dashboard, everything the bot knows lives in the Knowledge Base. You can mix five kinds of sources.
Website URLs and sitemap
Add individual page URLs, or add your sitemap so the bot reads all the pages it lists. Best for service, product, pricing and policy pages that are already published.
PDFs and text documents
Upload brochures, product catalogues, price lists, course outlines or terms. Useful for details that are not on the website yet.
FAQs
Write question-and-answer pairs for the things customers ask most on phone and WhatsApp. FAQs are the fastest way to fix a gap.
Install and go live
Whitelist your domain in Domain Access, copy the Client ID from Branding → Embed code, then paste it into the WordPress plugin or add the embed code to any other site.
What Content to Add First
You do not need every page on day one. Start with the content that answers the questions that cost your team the most time.
- Pricing, fees and plans. The most asked question on almost every Indian business website. If your prices change by city, size or package, state that clearly.
- Service or product pages. What you offer, who it is for, what is included and what is not.
- Policies. Delivery areas, shipping time, cash on delivery, returns, refunds, cancellation and warranty.
- Contact and logistics. Address, branches, working hours, holidays, parking, how to book an appointment.
- Your existing FAQ list. Plus the ten questions your staff answer every day on WhatsApp.
- Brochures and catalogues as PDFs. Especially for B2B, real estate, education and manufacturing sites where details sit in documents.
| Source | Use it for | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Sitemap | Covering the whole site quickly | Remove old or test pages from the sitemap first |
| Single URLs | Key pages: pricing, policies, top services | Add these even if the sitemap includes them, then test them |
| PDFs | Catalogues, brochures, price lists | Use text-based PDFs, not scanned photos of paper |
| Text documents | Internal notes you want visitors to know | Keep only what you are happy for any visitor to read |
| FAQs | Exact answers to common questions | Write the question the way customers phrase it |
How to Write Pages So the Bot Answers Well
The same habits that make a page clear to a human make it clear to a chatbot. A few changes make a big difference:
State facts in plain text
Write "Consultation fee: ₹500, follow-up within 7 days free" rather than "Contact us for affordable pricing". If a fact is only inside an image or banner, the bot cannot read it.
One topic per section
Use clear headings such as "Delivery charges" and "Return policy". Short sections with a heading are easier to match to a question than one long paragraph covering everything.
Remove contradictions
If an old page says delivery is 5 days and a new one says 3, the bot may quote either. Delete or update outdated pages and offers before training.
Use your customers' words
Include the terms people actually type: "EMI", "COD", "fees", "admission", product nicknames. The bot handles Hindi and Hinglish questions, but your content still needs the facts.
Keeping the Chatbot Updated
A chatbot trained on website content is only current if the knowledge base is current. Make re-training part of the routine that already happens when your business changes:
- When you change a price, plan or offer, update the page and re-add it in the Knowledge Base the same day.
- When you publish a new service or product page, add its URL, or re-add your sitemap.
- Before festivals and sales, add an FAQ about holiday timings, delivery cut-offs and offer terms.
- Keep a shared list of questions your team receives on phone and WhatsApp, and turn new ones into FAQs every month.
What the Bot Will Not Answer
Grounding is a feature, and it also sets boundaries. Bitsa AI answers from your approved knowledge base, not from generic internet content, so:
- It cannot know what you have not written down. If your bulk discount rules exist only in your head, the bot has no way to quote them.
- It does not replace a person for judgement calls. Custom quotes, complaints, medical or legal advice and negotiations belong with your team. For these, the bot can collect the visitor's name, phone, email and requirement, and the lead appears in your Bitsa AI dashboard.
- It only sees content you add. Private data such as a customer's order history is not part of the knowledge base unless you put it there, which you should not.
If you need the chatbot to work with internal systems or bespoke workflows, that is a different project; see custom AI chatbot development.
How to Test Before You Launch
Spend half an hour testing the bot like a real customer before you send traffic to it. A simple routine:
- Ask your 20 most common customer questions, word for word as customers send them.
- Ask the same questions in Hindi and Hinglish to check the replies come back in the visitor's language.
- Check every price, date and phone number against your current pages.
- Ask something outside your business to see how it handles off-topic questions.
- Say "I want to book" or "call me" and confirm the lead shows up in the dashboard.
- Fix wrong answers by correcting the source page or adding an FAQ, then ask again.
